Work and Toil

Written by Bear Silber in

Wheeh…I had a really tiring day at “work”. It was a blast but really exhausting. This is going to be really fun and I’m really excited to tell you all about it. Shortly I’ll be able to let you in on what it is as it becomes a little more real and a little more solid. It’s going to be a “career” for me and it’s something that I can and will be involved in for a long time. No more 6 month to 1 year stints. Also, of course (now), it’s local and always will be. There’s lots of room for expansion and growth too. There is so much I can do on it, so much create. It’s one of those things where the entire day feels like 10 minutes because you’re so busy but you’re enjoying it.

Here are some more mangas for you to enjoy (or not):

Funk

Written by Bear Silber in

I’ve been going through a funk lately and I want to apologize to everyone publicly. I would say that ever since I got back from LA I’ve been a bit of a downer and I want to change that. I think the first thing is acknowledging that I was that way rather than pretending that everything was and is okay. Just the fact of recognizing it and mentioning and helped tremendously.

I feel like I’ve been a horrible friend, brother and son. I haven’t been there socially and have been sort of checked out. I also of course haven’t been on a date since getting back from LA which would go hand-in-hand with my attitude. I hope to change ALL of this. I hope to really change my life and make it exactly how I want it.

One of the things that I’ve been trying to change is the way I eat. I think that has quite an effect on my mood and attitude and I think if I have less attention on what I’m eating and just enjoy it it’ll be better. I think I was little malnourished before, the body does need some sugars and fats. I can already feel the change. It’s nice to have so many options to eat. I’ll still eat healthy but I’m not going to be crazy about it (I may still be weird but that’s cause I’ve been doing it so long and actually do enjoy a lot of the weird things that I eat).

I really want to get back in touch with all of my friends. I want to enjoy company and conversations again. I want to enjoy life. I want to play games. I’m going to try and be involved in more activities. One of the things I normally do is immediately say no to things, I’m going to change that. I guess it’s sort of like Jim Carrey’s new movie “The ‘Yes’ Man”. I’m going to try and say “yes” to more things. I’m going to try and stay up later and sleep in later, that way I CAN be involved in more activities.

I also want to help others much more than I have been. I isolate myself so much. I guess the reason I don’t help others as much is because I don’t ever really ask others for help. I need to get out. I need to stop being alone and start having fun with others. I’m going to talk to others more, I’m going to do more things.

I’m thinking of a career change…you’ll hear about as it becomes more solid (you know I always have something up my sleeve). I also want to start taking Karate, Trumpet lessons and Spanish lessons. I would really like to accel at those things.

Here’s to the new Bear. Feel free to remind me of this and push me to be a better me. I really want to get out of my comfort zone. I think that’s the thing, I think I stay within a sphere where I don’t have to do anything I don’t really want to. With that philosophy I’ll never experience new things. I’ll never do anything other than what I’ve already tried and known.

I’m going to change and I’m going to change for the better. Life is going to be amazing. Life is going to be incredible and life is going to be exactly what I’ve always wanted.

Doldrums

Written by Bear Silber in

Hello All,

I hope you’ve added my blog to your RSS feed, otherwise the above should read “Hello None.”

I’m writing from my nifty iPhone while sitting at Starbucks in Los Gatos. There are two pleasant older women speaking in a British accent sitting next to me.

Again, hopefully others are going to start blogging. I’m going to try and get Lance to, I know Clay would never maintain one, hopefully Ian will for longer than 3 days.

If you’re not you can follow me ok Twitter at www.twitter.com/bearsilber and can catch my pics at www.flickr.com/photos/bearsilber.com.

I’m going to try and post a pic on here too but I’m not sure if it’ll work properly.

Leave me comments!

Okay, okay…I’m going to start writing more on my blog again. I’ll update on Twitter when I do. I like that there are a few others out there blogging now (Allison, Jonathan, etc.) but I would love for others like Yaunus and Bri to start blogging too!!!

Wouldn’t that be awesome if we had a little community :)

The London Trip

Written by Bear Silber in

London was spectacular; it was everything I had expected. This will probably be a really long post with a bunch of pictures but we did so much.

The trip started off slightly bad, on the way to the airport we found out that our plane was delayed at least 3 hours. We were supposed to take off at 4:30pm and by 5:30pm it was yet to arrive. I think we eventually departed at 8:30pm. I had this whole plan worked out where I got up at 2:00am the previous two nights so that I’d already be on London time and I’d be able to sleep through the plane trip but that didn’t work so well. It was nearly impossible to sleep on the plane.

We flew Virgin Atlantic, they provide you with the most amazing in-flight entertainment I have ever seen. They have something like 30 movies, 50 TV shows, music, games, and texting. It’s crazy, each person has their own TV and you can watch whatever you want at any time. I watched “The Flying Scotsman” (that was a great movie) and some TV. They also serve you free alcohol throughout the flight, free, completely free. I only had a scotch on the rocks but Lance had a JD and I think two Bloody Mary’s. They also serve some pretty good food but I didn’t eat mine on the plane, I saved it for later (I horded everything, especially the cheesecake).

We got into Heathrow around 2:00pm London time. Got our luggage, went through customs and found our way to the Tube. We changed the flat we were going to be staying at just prior to leaving San Francisco so we weren’t sure exactly what stop to get off at.

Giants vs Marlins 7/28

Written by Bear Silber in

So I woke Saturday not knowing exactly what I wanted to do. I had been trying all week to go to Yosemite but that didn’t work out. I was thinking of going to Santa Cruz for the day but it was so darned crowded. I was thinking that maybe I could go to the Giants game and get a shot at seeing Bonds’ 755 tying hit. I didn’t have a ticket and I didn’t have anyone to go with. What the hell, I’ll just drive up there and figure it out. I was just about on the freeway when I decided I’d call Doug Falk. I asked him if he was in town and what he was doing for the night. He said he was going to the Giants! And he had an extra ticket! Sweet deal. So I ended up going with Doug, Jeanne and Alec. We had a great time and the game was pretty good.

It was the first time I’d seen a Giants game since they played at Candlestick. I love everything about San Francisco, it’s so much fun. It got a bit chilly though. I wasn’t expecting the wind at night. I stood out in right field the whole game. The game was pretty slow until the end. The Giants rallied in the 9th to win 4-3. Barry did nothing whatsoever.
