I saw the most awesome thing at the live Diggnation show yesterday. There was a girl wearing the Blue Barracudas t-shirt from Legends of the Hidden Temple. First off, I LOVE LOTHT, I used to watch this show daily. I would normally vote for the Silver Snakes because it was close to Silber. Anyways, I asked the girl if she was on the show when she was younger and she disappointingly said no, she had just purchased it online. I would have been so excited to meet someone who had competed on the highest level, oh well. I did however find a site that not only has all 6 teams from Legends (Silver Snakes, Blue Barracudas, Orange Iguanas, Green Monkeys, Purple Parrots & Red Jaguars) but they also have a couple other shirts (Guts, Salute Your Shorts).

I think I may just buy one of each and have them as my only attire.

On another note, Lindsay took this picture of Jerry Sunday evening and I think it is totally awesome:

Eric and I did a little roadtrippypoo to Middle-of-nowhere Lone Pine, CA for Briana Wahlquist (Flickr, Facebook, Twitter) and Matt Addison’s wedding. It’s about 420 miles from San Jose and just outside of Death Valley. It was actually not too bad of a drive and a good time to catch up with Eric.

On the way over we stopped at a small Mexican mercado (ask Eric about the hot dogs) and they had one of those really big pickles. I’ve always wanted to get one but when I took it to the register I remembered why I never do, it was $3.00, not worth it. Strangely enough when we stopped once more to fill up there was a huge pickle again….this time only $.75, I had to get it. Unfortunately I wasn’t hungry and never ate it. It actually got left in our hotel room (somewhat concealed) and is probably pissing off the next occupant.

We got in around 7:30pm Friday and checked into the fabulous Dow Villa Motel. Not a bad place actually. It was SUPER cheap and the staff were fantastic (thanks Craig and Deanna).

We couldn’t read anyone because most were at the rehearsal dinner and also because we were in the boonies and no one got cell service. We jumped across the street and grabbed some pizza at Pizza Factory. They were pretty poorly run and took forever for Eric’s pie to come out. Also they have a salad bar but it was “one trip only”, what’s up with that. Sitting near us were a few cute chicks our age speaking in funny accents. Eric asked them where they were from and they said Italy (but they didn’t quite sound Italian), turns out they were born in Italy but have moved around. They were really sweet and had come out to California to do a little roadtrip together. The three of them, Silvia (living in Rome), Margarita (living in London), Ilaria (living in Tokyo), grew up together and now because of their living situations don’t see much of each other. They are really into this Italian director who did a film in Death Valley, I thought I knew his name (Bobispo?) but I can’t find any info on him. They were really cool girls and ended up hanging out with us (including all of our friends that showed up) the rest of the night.

We went over to a restaurant/bar and did some karaoke. That’s when everyone showed up. From there we went over to Jake’s Saloon which turned into the hangout for the weekend.

Here is everyone at Jake’s dancing, playing pool, drinking and doing some shuffleboard:

The one and only Cody Boarden, amazingly funny guy:

Here’s Cody, Eric and Katie:

Two of the Italians, Silvia and Margarita, playing shuffleboard:

Saturday was the wedding and it was fantastic. Bri’s family has a cabin at the base of Mount Whitney and it was absolutely gorgeous. She looked stunning and everything about it was amazing.

Here is the ceremony, with like 7 bridesmaids and 7 groomsmen. Matt’s father is a reverend and did the ceremony, he was a really sweet guy and did a fantastic job:

Here is Eric and I at the ceremony. We had to sport the killer shades:

Here is Evan, Eric, Cody and me. I love these boys and it was SO good to see them and catch up with them. I wish we had more time together:

This was Eric’s terrific parking job. Keep in mind that we’re 9,000 feet up and on a 70 degree slope (I know it doesn’t look like it). Also, he’s not actually touching the Isuzu but he came REALLY close. Cody and I held the Jetta back while Eric attempted to reverse without rolling forward (manual transmission). Evan and to help-a-brotha-out a bit:

After the ceremony we all headed down the road to the country club where the reception was. Here are the table settings:

Here are Matt and Bri cutting the cake (which was extremely delicious and I ate WAY too much of):

Here is Bri and Matt doing their first dance as a married couple:

Overall the wedding was a blast. There was great people, many of whom I hadn’t seen in a really long time and was great to catch up with, great food, good drinks, dancing, laughing and a whole lot of fun. I would say there was only one bad thing and that was the DJ but after people started requesting songs it got much better, what do you expect out of Lone Pine.

I also met new friends and hope to keep in touch with them. Others took photos that are much better than mine (all done on the iPhone) and I’ll post links when I get them.

Oh yeah, we also visited the Lone Pine Film History Museum which was surprisingly interesting. Did you know Iron Man, Tremors and Transformers 2 (among others) had parts filmed in Lone Pine?

As a parting shot, this passed us on our way out from the Dow Villa:

I love Bri SO SO SO much and it was the best thing in the world to see her. I wish her and Matt the best. I can’t wait to see here again (maybe get some China Death?)

You have to sign-up for the SES conference to get your badge (free registration) and then you’re allowed admitance to the Google Dance. We got all the paper work for that and Jeff attempted to get all of our badges for us but they were crazy about it and wouldn’t let him. They have to have the attendee in person and see their photo I.D. Ian was able to go get his early in the morning and Lance and I managed to get ours later in the day. Clayton didn’t get one but we were pretty certain that we could get him into Google if the four of us had ours.

We arrived right when it started at 6:30 pm. There was a huge line at the registration booth. There was a bike-thingy for four people that rolled by us with only 3 passengers so I jumped on and rode with them. I skipped the whole line only to find out that it was the wrong line (good thing I did). I found the correct registration desk and called the boys over. We all got signed in and headed straight for the food tables. There was a HUGE line. Lance and I did a little cutsie to the front and Ian and Jeff joined us shortly thereafter. They had BBQ pork ribs, BBQ beef brisket, BBQ chicken, vegetable skewers, baked beans, coleslaw, french fries, watermelon and a berry cobbler. I only really had the vegetable skewers (which also had tofu) and they were pretty good. The others somewhat enjoyed their meals. Ian said the fries improved throughout the evening. They also had an open bar. I did not partake in alcoholic beverages but I had many a water and diet sodas.

Jeff, Lance, Ian and I performed Garage Band onstage in front of a crowd of roughly 100 people. That was pretty fun. We couldn’t get it started and pretty much failed from the beginning. We did give the people a show though. We actually ended up failing the level and practically got booed off stage. Still fun.

They had build your own cupcakes and cookies with vanilla and chocolate frosting, Oreo crumbles, M&Ms, coconut, nuts, jimmies, chocolate chips and other goodies. They also had a whole gummy candy lineup. There was free It’s It’s, Ben & Jerry’s and popsicles. There was tons of stuff for everyone’s taste.

They dancing was awesome. I did the whole circle break dancing thing for a bit, there were some pretty good dancers. They had tons of free video games (the really cool big ones like downhill skiing, racing, etc. The also had a bunch of other exhibits and booths but we didn’t really do much of those. They had a couple pool tables and the boys played on them for a while. They handed out a bunch of glow sticks, glow leis, glow rings and glow glasses, those were pretty awesome. The theme of the whole dance was glow-in-the-dark (a got a few shirts too). There were so many attendees and it was utterly crowded, there were a lot of good looking people. Overall it was a blast and a fun night out with the boys. I wish I had more photos but I have the crappy iPhone and my battery died around 6 in the afternoon, sorry. I think Ian got some and hopefully he’ll post them on his Flickr.

I Woke up Saturday morning really wanting to just be outside. Do you ever get those days where you just want to get out and move? I grabbed my backpack and filled it with the essentials (pencils, sketch pad, newspaper and current book “Theatre”) and hopped on my bike. I rode down to the Almaden Starbucks, I read the Mercury there and did the Jumble (which I murdered) and attempted the crossword, which I did okay with (what’s a 3-letter word for Levi’s 501’s?). I enjoy sitting at Starbucks and listening to what people talk about. It seems like people go to Starbucks to gossip or talk about “drama”.

After that I rode towards Rocking Horse Court. I wanted to see how the house was holding up. Just before Santa Teresa Boulevard this happened:

I didn’t have a spare tube but tried to pump up the tire and see if that would help. No dice. Luckily about 5 minutes after I was downed a fellow cyclist stopped and offered me a tube (very nice guy). So I replaced the tube and was on my way…..I must be doing something wrong because this continues to happen to me, 10 minutes down the road I got another flat! There is probably a piece of metal in the tire but I did check for that. Again without a tube and I continue my trip on foot. I walked all the way to Rocking Horse and got these photos:

After that I walked down to the Starbucks at Santa Teresa and Snell and read while I waited for Clay to come rescue me. Clay and I went to Denny’s on Blossom Hill Road. Although I didn’t eat anything I was blown away by the changes that Denny’s has made. First off they’ve completely remodeled the restaurant and it’s quite respectable. Secondly they’ve changed some things on the menu. They’ve added some delicious looking breakfast skillets and nice looking breakfasts to go. Their Grand Slam breakfast is amazingly cheap and you can add extra items for $.99.

Clay got a coffee and one of the breakfast skillet with pancakes. He really like it. The only problem with this visit was the service, she was extremely slow and kept forgetting things. I think she was new.

Clay brought me home and I hung with Jeff and Lance. I made them some Peanut M&M, Chocolate Chip, Butterscotch Blondie Bars but I forgot to take a picture. As you can imagine they were extremely rich but everyone enjoyed them.

We went to Safeway to get items to BBQ but when we got there none of us really wanted meats so Jeff and Lance got frozen pizzas and I got some veggies. I also got a nice bottle of Port. We went home, cooked our dinners and watched the Niners kill the Packers, Phelps continue to break records, Bolt smash the 100 meter, the Women’s marathon and play some cards. I think Jeff won (he won $20 Peruvian, $5 Subway gift certificate, $5 cash and $5 Lance IOU). All-in-all it was a pretty fun night. I think Jeff spent the night again, I gotta check if he’s still here, it’s been fun hanging with him. Also I think Lindsay did not come home after the IAS Ball, I gotta check on that too. Maybe she spent the night at her boyfriend’s house. I wonder where Allison slept too, I thought she was going to sleep with Lindsay. I’m not sure when everyone got home from the Ball, I went to bed at 11pm and my mother wasn’t home yet.

Ohh, I forgot to mention Friday but I was sort of there when this happened:

Wow, last night I stayed up later than I have in years…well not really but pretty close (especially for a Friday night at home). Jeff, Lance, Clay and I went to Tandori Oven in downtown Los Gatos for dinner. I’ve been eating more normal and I really enjoy it. I had curry, naan and rice. That was damn yummy. Afterwards we went to Safeway and got some drink, I took a walk home from there to work of the candy samples.

The rest of the night we shot the crap out on the patio. It was really nice to hang with the boys (Ian even came over for a bit). They all got a little silly and I eventually went to bed. I also serviced my bike and Jeff’s bike, hopefully he’ll notice a difference.

Tonight should be a lot of fun. I’ve been craving a cigar and some nice port so I’m going to get me some of that. The boys are coming over again and we’re going to BBQ and watch the Niners take on the Packers, that ought to be fun. We’ll be watching the Olympics too.

Sadly Perry is now gone, he’s off to school. So no Perry tonight.

Tired from another busy day. Got a lot done. Things are moving along nicely and it’s all looking really good. I don’t see any snags and that means I’ll be able to tell you all about it soon! I imagine in the next few weeks things will be finalized, until then I may have to remain tight-lipped.

On another note, has anyone been watching the Olympics? Phelps is on again tonight and I’m sure he’ll win another gold. Also, I was hoping to watch the Men’s basketball team today but during SportsCenter they flashed an update of the score so I already know the outcome. SportsCenter is live now so they keep doing that to me.

Off to read Theatre by W. Somerset Maugham, if you haven’t read anything by him you should. I find him to be terribly humorous. I love the way he writes.
