Pizza Crepe Taco Pancake Chili Bag

Written by Bear Silber in

A while back they had an SNL skit mocking Taco Bells new creations. They made a new item that was a crunchy all beef taco, slathered in nacho cheese, lettuce, tomato, and spicy southwestern sauce, wrapped it in a soft flour tortilla, with a layer of refried beans, wrapped that in a corn tortilla, with a middle layer of monterey jack cheese, wrapped that in a deep fried gordita shell, smeared on a layer of special guacamolito sauce, baked it in a corn husk, filled it with pico de gallo, wrapped that in an authentic Parisian crepe filled with egg, gruyere, merguez sausage, and portabello mushrooms, wrapped that in a Chicago-style deep-dish meat lovers’ pizza, rolled it up in a blueberry pancake, dipped it in batter and deep-fried it until it was golden brown.

Well a couple guys have actually made it and here is there story.

I’m jealous.

Happy Easter!

Written by Bear Silber in

I wish I were home for Easter, it would be a lot of fun. I would make you all these pancakes for breakfast. Afterwards we could have an Easter Egg Hunt for all the substitute grandkids (Nicci, Max, etc.) The weather is absolutely amazing here right now. I know it has been and will be cloudy there so maybe it’s not so bad after all. When will the sun ever shine in the Bay Area again?

Hope everyone has a great Easter and April and year for that matter!

I’m working the Market baby

Written by Bear Silber in

I bought my first stock today. I opened a Scottrade account last week and was finally able to trade today. I won’t tell you how much or the name of the stock (so as not to embarrass myself if it crashes) until I see how it’s going. I read a few books recommended my Matt including “Learn To Earn” by Peter Lynch and “The Little Book That Beats the Market” by Joel Greenblatt.

It’s pretty exciting, I plan to keep investing a little more each month and hopefully I’ll do good. I’ve made a few mock portfolios that have all done really well but it’s fun having actual money on the line. I’ll tell you in a few months how I’ve done.

I knew it…

Written by Bear Silber in

A British judge has rejected claims that U.S. author Dan Brown plagiarized the work of two historians in his best selling novel “The Da Vinci Code.”

High Court judge Peter Smith rejected a copyright-infringement claim by Michael Baigent and Richard Leigh, who said Brown’s blockbuster “appropriated the architecture” of their 1982 book, Holy Blood, Holy Grail.”

“Today’s verdict shows that this claim was utterly without merit, I’m still astonished that these two authors chose to file their suit at all,” Brown said in a statement, according to The Associated Press.

“I’m pleased with today’s outcome, not only from a personal standpoint but also as a novelist,” he said, adding that he was eager to return to writing.

Books, books, books

Written by Bear Silber in ,

While in Denver recently I went to a huge thrift store and picked up the above books for less than $5. Score, huh? huh? huh?

I recently finished “Digital Fortress” by Dan Brown which completes his catalogue for me. It was entertaining but by far the least of which of his. If I were to rank them I would place them in the following order

1. “Angels & Demons”
2. “The Da Vinci Code”
3. “Deception Point”
4. “Digital Fortress”

I’m really looking forward to “The Solomon Key” which is Dan Brown’s fifth book and third featuring Robert Langdon. It’s slated for a 2007 release. Did you see that they finally released “The Da Vinci Code” as paperback?

I also read “Of Mice And Men” by John Steinbeck. I’d heard nothing about this book prior to reading it other than knowing that it was very popular. What a weird freakin’ book. It’s so strange. Has anyone else read this? I don’t really know what else to say about it. I did enjoy the ending though.

I just finished “The Golden Apples of the Sun” by Ray Bradbury too. That was awesome. It’s a collection of 22 short stories, my favorite being “The Murderer,” “The Golden Kite, The Silver Wind” and “Powerhouse.” This is a fun and interesting read for all out there because of the variety of the stories. That’s it for now. I think I’m going to read “The Wind In The Willows” next.

Burrito Eater

Written by Bear Silber in

Well this is exactly what I wanted to do and he got around to it first. He’s reviewed 326 burritos and rated 170 San Francisco taquerias. Luckily he’s only done San Francisco. We can do the entire South Bay. Plus we’ll have multiple diners.

I haven’t had Mexican food in the longest time and it sounds so amaz-zi-zing right now. Ahhh….Senor Tacos chips would be unbelievable right now.

I’ve alot to catch up on…

Written by Bear Silber in

…but my internet connection has been horrible. The wireless doesn’t extend to my room and yesterday the cable went out completely. I need to get that squared away. It’s awfully annoying. Ya’ll need to write more too. I know you have interesting things happening in your lives and I really want to know about them. I’m 3000 miles away and feel disconnected from the family. It’s nice to hear you’re amusing tales, and in some way I feel closer.

Come on, write me up a story. Lindsay hasn’t written anything in the longest and she’s got the most going on (school, staff, driving, 16, boys…geez, it’s scary). Lance and Ian always promise to write something but never really get around to it. Jeff you check up alot but you should write more blogs. I’m not sure if Blake comes on here at all but it would be awesome to know what’s happening with Big Bro. Eric, I know you’re busy but what’s new? And the parents, not one has written something since I got it back up…come on. If we all use the blog it will be awesome. Yes that’s right, awesome.

I miss you all and I want to know every little thing that’s happening in your lives. I love to read about it. It brings joy to my day anytime I see someone else has written a blog. Now I’m just ranting and I feel like a fool. How about those Bay Area baseball teams, both lost opening day huh? Oh well, maybe the Niners and Raiders will do something this year (yeah right).

Mercedes Benz SLR

Mercedes SLR #2

This is a $500,000 piece of art. It is so amazingly beautiful. I crawled inside and wept, alone. I was drawn into the fetal position. In her lovely womb. I stayed that way for hours. Crying. Until the evil receptionist rapped on the window waking me from my wondrous dream of being born to such a machine. I was then tossed back to reality….a harsh reality…I’m human. Wah.
